Moeldoko: TNI, Police Chief Monitor MK's Ruling at TNI HQ

27 June 2019 09:03 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said that several heads of state institutions overseeing security affairs would assemble in one of Indonesian Military (TNI) headquarters near State Palace, Jakarta. They would monitor the verdict trial of Constitutional Court (MK) on the presidential election dispute on Thursday, June 27.

They are Chief of Staff, TNI Commander, National Police Chief, Attorney General, Coordinating Ministry of Legal and Human Rights, and Ministry of Communication and Informatics. “All of us will run monitoring so we will know what’s happening and its development as to take quick response,” said Moeldoko, Wednesday, June 26.

The TNI commander mentioned the access to social media would possibly be limited to maintain the conducive situation. “If we deem [social media] disturbs state security, we are sorry that we will slightly drop [the access],” he added.

The government and police, he went on, saw an indication of terrorist groups that would infiltrate the rally on June 27, at MK.

“We have identified 30 people joining the network. We’re following them. We’ve known the tricks. So we ask the public not to fret. Act normal. Let security officers, TNI and Police handle it,” he underlined.

Moeldoko was reluctant to name the terrorist network they have detected infiltrating the demonstration. For sure, he added, TNI and Police have detached 40,000 personnel to stand guard during the MK’s ruling.

According to him, based on temporary data, the total number of people who would join the rally amounted to 2,000 to 3,000. Thus, he demanded supporters of Jokowi - Ma’ruf Amin not to hit the street as well.
